Baumhower’s Victory Grille

Baumhower’s was a destination that all of the guys in the office had been requesting for months. It’s one of their favorites! We decided to go to the restaurant around 11:30 AM to try to avoid the lunch rush (the first time we tried to go to their new location, it was a SUPER long wait!). We only had to wait around 15-20 minutes for our group of 8 people this time but that was partially because we agreed to patio seating. The inside of the restaurant was already packed by the time we arrived at 11:30 and we were gone from the office for 1 hour and 40 minutes, so just keep that in mind if you are needing somewhere a little more expeditious.

Appetizers

Spencer's Gooey Cheese Fries - $8.99

curly-q fries, scratch-made Blanco cheese, bacon, scratch-made Buttermilk Ranch

Fried Pickles - $6.99

hand-battered dill pickle planks, scratchmade Buttermilk Ranch

The Hipster

Baumhowers is a football, bar food-loving environment that always fills up shortly after it opens. People love this place for the unity in the love of sports and good food. Today we were seated outside. The outdoor environment allowed us to be able to chat without shouting or speaking loudly over other people. I am sure that the same would be true inside, because today there was no big game going on. The service was pretty good as well. They did forget my drink, but it didn’t help that I left to take a phone call when the waitress brought the beverages, so I missed drink call so to speak.

WHAT SHE ATE:

Traditional Hot Thai Sweet Chili Wings Snack, 1/2 lb. - $6.99

The sauce was definitely very tasty and spicy, but not too much that the flavor was drowned out. The fries were great as well and were a great side to the wings. Overall this is a great, chill restaurant when a game is not going on, and I bet its a really fun setting for a big game day as well.

The Boss

After waiting about 15-20 minutes for our table, we were eventually led to patio seating across the restaurant. The patio was a nice environment but there were a lot of flies and the table space was pretty limited. The waitress put together two round tables for us, but one table was smaller than the other, making the people at the smaller table pretty cramped. There were a lot of flies outside as well, so that took away from the overall experience. We had to wait for napkins and silverware and we never received appetizer plates, making sharing apps a little awkward and messy, especially since we weren’t even brought napkins until the entrees came out.

WHAT SHE ATE:

Char-grilled Fish Tacos - $9.99
two white fish tacos topped with tropical mango salsa, cabbage, mixed cheese, diced tomato, cilantro and John's Slaw Dressing. Served with curly-q fries

I ordered the fish tacos and French fries. The tacos were a pretty big disappointment and lacked any kind of good flavor or texture. They were large tacos with mango salsa on the side and a bottle of “Angel Hair Slaw” sauce (which I didn’t try). Some of the cheese on my taco was dried out and hard, the fish had a grainy consistency, and the mango salsa seemed kind of slimy, flavorless, and not fresh. The fried pickles we had as an appetizer and the French fries were the best parts of my meal.

Judge J.

Overall, a good restaurant for lunch! They have plenty of options for each individual in your party. I had the char-grilled chicken sandwich and fries.

WHAT SHE ATE:

Black & White Chicken Sandwich - $8.99
lemon-pepper mojo grilled chicken chicken breast, LTOP, multi-grain bun, curly-q fries, Baumhower's Legendary White BBQ sauce

The fries came out crunchy and lightly seasoned while the chicken was cooked in a zingy lemon marinade. A good place to get together with friends if you are looking for a lunch-time spot!

Strings O'Shaghnessy

Baumhower’s is ALWAYS packed. We have been trying to go for a while and we finally had the chance today. There was still a wait time (we had a party of 8) but after about 10 minutes we were seated. The wait staff was super nice and our food was delivered in a timely manner as well.

WHAT HE ATE:

Traditional Hot Wings, Large, 1.5 lb. - $12.99

The appetizers came out before our drinks! I ordered the large order of traditional wings with the hot flavored sauce. The wings had a nice crisp outer layer and didn’t feel rubbery and the sauce had a small kick. The appetizer to get here would probably be the Spencer’s Gooey Fries. Perfectly cooked fries with queso and bacon on top, what more could you ask for? The fried pickles were good, too, but they weren’t the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely go back.

The Apprentice

Grab the boys (or girls) and go get some wings and gooey fries at the best bar food restaurant in town. Baumhower’s is really everything you’re looking for in a place to watch sports and, if we’re being honest, life itself, and eat great food. The restaurant’s full parking lot is a living testament to its service, so plan on waiting 15-20 minutes (especially if you have a large group) for a table. Don’t worry about not being able to watch the game because there are literally more TV’s in Baumhower’s than in a Walmart. The service has always been superb and the seating is comfortable.

WHAT HE ATE:

I usually order the large traditional wings which come with a generous helping of fries, unlike some places (cough cough Farm Burger). They have a large selection of flavors to dress your wings in, but be warned it is their policy to not mix wing flavors so don’t go expecting to order half one flavor, half the other. However, if you ask, they will give you a different flavor in a little container if you would like to be a man and try more than one flavor. All in all, if you have the time and money, go here. Mr. Clearwater

We ordered 2 apps to begin with, gooey fries, and fried pickles. Gooey fries were just normal cheese fries w/ queso and were pretty decent. The fried pickles were probably the best fried pickles I’d ever had. Normally when fried pickles are made out of sandwich slice pickles, they are too floppy, but Baumhower’s made these perfectly crunchy. They were great.

WHAT HE ATE:

Pot Roast Plate - $8.99
tender pot roast, moist & perfectly cooked in it's own juices, covered in our Mushroom Beef Gravy and served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans

For my entree, I got the pot roast bowl (lunch serving). It consisted of pot roast, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I’d say that it was good, but nothing to write a blog post about. Only reason I give a 4/5 rating for experience was because the waitress forgot our drinks and we had to ask for them, otherwise, service was good and timely.
