BJ’s Restaurant | Brewhouse

Bridge Street was a bit of a trek for us from the office, but we decided BJ’s sounded good to all of us today, so we made the journey. We had to wait a few minutes to be helped by the hostess. We asked to sit outside because it’s finally getting a little warmer outside! The patio was nice, but there was lots of pollen on all of the surfaces. The longer we sat there, the more people showed up for lunch and the busier the restaurant became. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out, but we were all very satisfied with the food when it came out! It was plated beautifully and the flavors were all very good! Good-sized lunch portions!

Strings O'Shaughnessy

Today I was craving some American bar food. The office hadn’t been to BJ’s Brewhouse together yet, so we gave it a try. Most everyone had been there individually at some point, and the consensus was that the service was pretty terrible. Honestly the service still was pretty bad, and the food took about 45 mins. to come to the table after ordering. I think the food definitely made up for this, however.

WHAT HE ATE:

BJ's Original Wings with French Fries
Crispy, bone-in wings | tossed in your choice of our signature sauces or dry rubs | served with celery sticks and ranch for dipping

My entree was the original wings with fries. The wings were super crispy, and drizzled with ranch and buffalo sauce (the plate had extra ranch and buffalo sauce on the side which was nice). The fries had the perfect texture – crispy outside with a warm soft inside. They were salted correctly as well; not too much, not too little. I dipped them in the extra ranch/buffalo sauce provided, but they could have been eaten as is. The Pizookie dessert was amazing. We had three different flavors – Caramel, Monkey Bread, and Chocolate. I think everyone’s favorite was the monkey bread or caramel, as the chocolate was overwhelming. They all had a scoop of ice cream on top, and the cookie portion was warm and soft but not under-cooked.

The Engineer

I thought that the building was very clean, and the service was okay. The only issue was that it seemed like the waitress, and honestly most people working there, really didn’t enjoy it at all. The experience outside of the waiting was pretty good! The food took a little bit, but it was understandable due to the fact that it was a bit busy. Overall I would give the experience a 3/5.

WHAT HE ATE:

Bread Bowl with Chicken Tortilla Soup
Chicken tortilla soup | jack + cheddar cheese | avocado |cilantro | tortilla strips

The food was absolutely incredible! I got the chicken tortilla soup in a bread bowl! It was an incredible meal that was displayed well and tasted even better! The soup was creamy and the bowl had great flavor and was cooked to perfection! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a soup lover! We also ate some of their deserts and they were delicious! I had some of the triple chocolate one and it was my favorite for sure. I would rate their food quality a 5/5!

Judge J.

I love BJ’s! The atmosphere and the food is always great and I was definitely feeling my food selection.

I think my favorite part of dining at BJ’s will always be the dessert. Without a doubt, order the ‘Monkey Bread’ Pizookie! It’s pretty much a giant cinnamon roll with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream on top. For dinner, drinks and a good time BJ’s is a solid option!

WHAT SHE ATE:

Grilled Chicken Alfredo
Seasoned grilled chicken | fettuccine | creamy Alfredo | steamed broccoli | Parmesan cheese

I chose the grilled chicken Alfredo, which came with a garlic knot. Ugh, so good! There was a perfect amount of cheesy sauce, broccoli and grilled chicken. They were super generous with the portion sizing, despite it being the “lunch serving,” which is supposed to be smaller than the dinner entree.

The Detective

BJ’s is sorta outside our usual range we look for because it’s about 15 mins away as opposed to the usual 5 minute drive. But it was Strings who picked this restaurant because he just recently had a birthday! I’ve been there previously and had a pretty good experience. We arrived and they seated us quickly (we asked to sit outside). Service was a little slow and the waitress seemed uninterested. I didn’t feel very taken care of. The food, however, was amazing!

WHAT SHE ATE:

Meatlover's Piadina with French Fries
Pepperoni | Italian sausage | housemade meatballs | fresh basil | San Marzano marinara | BJ's signature five cheese blend | marinara for dipping

I ordered the Meat Lover’s Piadina. It was kinda like a Calzone but in a grilled wrap kind of thing. It was super good! Filled well and cheesy. It came with marinara dipping sauce and fries. Guys, their fries are really good! This meal was literally the most perfectly portioned meal for me I’ve ever eaten. I wasn’t stuffed with a whole bunch of left overs like I usually am. I was satisfied and I had cleaned my plate. I never eat all my food because I can’t eat much in one sitting. So if you’re planning on eating a lot then maybe order something to go along with these. We also did their trio Pizookie tasting. We got monkey bread, double chocolate, and salted caramel. I’m not much of a cookie eater but I loved these!

The Hipster

Today we ate at BJ’s. With such a sunny day, we had to eat outside. We were promptly seated and ordered our drinks. I ordered an amazing strawberry lemonade, that honestly has been the best lemonade I have ordered since we started this blog. I had a taste and could immediately tell that it was “homemade” and not prepackaged, absolutely delightful. Our orders took a little while to be delivered, but it was a busy afternoon.

WHAT SHE ATE:

Grilled Chicken Alfredo
Seasoned grilled chicken | fettuccine | creamy Alfredo | steamed broccoli | Parmesan cheese

I ordered Grilled Chicken Alfredo and it was delicious and came with a garlic knot. I liked the environment of BJ’s inside and out. It was busy but you felt cozy with your group as well, and not overwhelmed by crowds of people. I would definitely go back!

The Boss

I’ve been to BJ’s at Bridgestreet several times over the years since they opened. Originally I loved the food and atmosphere, but I feel like the service had definitely gone down hill over the years since they opened. That being said, I was pretty pleased with our experience today. The service still wasn’t the best, but my order was brought out correct, with attention to detail. I asked for no onion or corn and those two things were absent, so I was very pleased!

WHAT SHE ATE:

Santa Fe Grilled Chicken Salad
Crisp romaine | blackened chicken breast | red onions | fire-roasted red peppers | jack + cheddar cheese | avocado | sweet corn | tomatoes | crispy tortilla strips | Santa Fe dressing

The food itself was outstanding – the presentation, flavor, ingredients – everything was just right! The chicken was grilled with wonderful seasoning, the proportions of all the ingredients were on point, the tortilla strips topping the salad added a colorful crisp to the salad, and the Santa Fe ranch dressing was a perfect blend of smooth and salty. I really wouldn’t change anything about it! (I have an onion allergy and I don’t like corn, so I ordered without those two ingredients. There were still green onions on the salad, which are not listed in the ingredients, but they were pretty good. Hoping they won’t bother my allergies!)

The Apprentice

I had been to Bj’s twice before, I think this was the least pleasurable experience. That said, it wasn’t bad, just nothing impressive. We got there around 11:30 AM so there was plenty of seating and we were seated right away. As is common for establishments serving bar food, there was ample space covered by TV’s broadcasting sports and even the TV show Friends. Our waiter was, again, decent. Nothing to write home about but she also didn’t do a bad job. Barring a special game or event, you should be fine just showing up and getting seated immediately. Even if you wanted to get a reservation, they don’t offer them. I would give the experience a 3/5.

WHAT HE ATE:

Shrimp Scampi with Zucchini Noodles
Sauteed jumbo shrimp | spaghetti | garlic butter sauce | diced tomatoes | garlic | fresh basil | parsley | Parmesan cheese

I got the shrimp scampi with zucchini noodles. The dish is one of their more expensive items so I was a bit surprised to see not very much food on my plate. The dish had about 7 or so pieces of shrimp which was fine, there just wasn’t a whole lot of noodles. The taste was great, even with the zucchini noodles, and the shrimp was cooked very well. I would definitely recommend this dish if you’re willing to pay nearly $20 for something not that filling. Granted, everyone is different and this dish might fill you right up, but it failed to do so with me. I would give the scampi a 4/5.

DESSERT - PIZOOKIES

PLEASE don’t forget to order these when you go to BJ’s… They are the BEST thing about BJ’s! We LOVED the Pizookies!!! We chose to get the Pizookie Trio to sample three different kinds. If you choose to get one flavor, plan to split it, because the single Pizookies are HUGE and plenty to satisfy two or three people!

Salted Caramel

The salted caramel was the second favorite. Rich, buttery cookie with caramel, almond toffee, and bits of pretzel, along with white and dark delicious chocolate chips, all melty from the hot cookie meeting the ice cold vanilla bean ice cream… Yummm…

Triple Chocolate Pizookie made with Ghirardelli

I love chocolate, but this was almost too much for even me! I don’t know many people who could finish this whole chocolate pizookie on their own, but it was really great to try a bite or two!

Monkey Bread

The monkey bread Pizookie was the overall favorite for the table. Imagine a soft, freshly baked homemade cinnamon roll with crunchy edges and a delightful cinnamon sugar glaze mixing in with the melting ice cream.

Give them a visit!
